REDFIELD — Richard “Dick” Dean Anderson, 89, of Redfield passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center.
His graveside service, with military honors, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, in Greenlawn Cemetery at Redfield.
Richard Dean Anderson was born July 11, 1927, in Redfield to Homer and Gertrude (Schmidt) Anderson. He worked on farms in the Redfield area and at the Hatchery in Redfield. He entered the U.S. Army in October of 1945, serving in the occupation of Japan and Korea at the end of WWII, before his honorable discharge in February 1947.
After serving in the military, he was employed by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Energy until 1982. He worked for an energy company in Greely, Colo. before returning to Redfield and doing handyman work for many years.
He was united in marriage to June Baker June 3, 1950. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, June; daughter, Jeanie Tiff of Hot Springs; son, Raymond Anderson of Rapid City; and his two grandchildren, Vanah Maresh Anderson, and Shania Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel Reber, Shirley Loreman, Homer Lewer, and Willard Anderson.
