RSVP, Foster Grandparents program gives awards

HURON — Volunteers of America, Dakotas presented plaques to its volunteers with the RSVP and Foster Grandparents programs.
RSVP staff presented plaques to the following volunteers in honor of their years of service with the RSVP Program:
• Fern Mattke – 20 years
• Pearl Bergquist – 20 years

• LaVerne Hein – 25 years
Volunteers of America, Dakotas Foster Grandparent Program staff presented a plaque to Betty Maxwell for 10 years of dedicated service to the children in Huron.  She is currently serving at the Huron Head Start Center.
Volunteers of America, Dakotas RSVP Program recognized the following volunteers in April as winners of its “Caught You Making a Difference” Award. All nominees were chosen because of their dependability, commitment, and positive attitude while volunteering.  
Jean Hart was nominated by the First United Methodist Church and Diane Wipf was nominated by the Huron Regional Medical Center.  Not pictured but also being recognized was Keith McMillan nominated by Beadle County Nutrition.
As of June 30, Volunteers of America will relinquish program grants and both programs will be closing in Huron.
