BROOKINGS — Ruth E. Liebing, 93, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018.
The memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, December 22, at Eidsness Funeral Home in Brookings. Burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery at Brookings.
Ruth was born January 9, 1925, in Bristol to Emil and Emma (Carlsen) Braley. She graduated from Brookings High School in 1943. She was united in marriage to Orval Liebing. They farmed and raised their children in the Milbank area.
Together, they owned many different businesses and properties throughout Brookings including the Corral Drive-In. She and her husband moved to Mesa, Ariz. and continued to own property in that area until his death in 1979. She moved back to Brookings and enjoyed being a member of bridge clubs, a doll club, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Women’s Elks Club.
She is survived by her sons, Dan of Huron, and Mark (Amy) of Brookings; daughter-in-law Marla, of Brookings; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval; son, Terry; siblings, Arlene Bittner, Lovain Braley, Milford, Virgil, Dennis, and Duane; and a niece.
