Sandra Jo Hanten, 59, of Huron

HURON — Sandra Jo Hanten, 59, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen following a stroke.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at First United Methodist Church in Huron, with Pastor Rey Colón officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  
A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Burial will take place at G A R (Miller) Cemetery in Miller.
Sandra Jo Wilson was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on January 27, 1960, to Clifford and Myrna (Dahl) Wilson. She grew up and attended school in the Miller area and graduated from Miller High School in 1978. Sandra furthered her education at Northern State College in Aberdeen, and graduated with a degree in Med-Tech. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis and worked in a nursing home.
In 1988, she fell in love with and married Henry Hanten. They were happily married for the next 31 years. In 2002, Sandra returned to South Dakota and attended college at Sitanka University in Huron, South Dakota. When Sitanka closed, she transferred to SDSU in Brookings. Sandra obtained her Registered Nursing Degree and graduated with honors in 2006.
Sandra is survived by husband, Henry; their six fur babies, Jake, Sadie, Lilly, Mittens, Samantha, and Sassy; She is also survived by her siblings, Todd (Sandy) Wilson, Sally Staufer, and Keith Fanger; special aunt, Della Wilken; uncle Warren (Diane) Fanger; and aunt, Bess (Rollae) Aman; very special friends, Cathy and Denny Mead, and Joe and Marilyn Grafsgard; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Michael James Wilson; her sister, Billie Hale; one niece, Stephanie Wilson; her grandparents; step-parents; many aunts, uncles, and extended family, and many fur babies.
Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW in Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.
