Members of the South Dakota Central Chapter of Credit Unions gathered to present Jan Manolis, with the Jan Manolis Family Safe Center, with a monetary donation. The Jan Manolis Family Safe Center is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to victims of domestic abuse, which includes physical, emotional and sexual assault. They provide shelter, interpretation services, counseling and transportation to mostly women and children, but men as well, to help them build, or re-build, their self-worth. They have one full-time employee, one part-time employee, and about 20 volunteers/advocates. The Central Chapter of Credit Unions consists of six credit unions, Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, M-O Federal Credit Union, Huron Area Education Federal Credit Union, HB Telco Federal Credit Union, Dakota Rail Line Federal Credit Union (all of Huron), and Oahe Federal Credit Union (of Pierre). The Central Chapter raised the funds by holding 50/50 drawings at each of their monthly chapter meetings.
