Sister Brigid Carey, 86, of Aberdeen

ABERDEEN — Sister Brigid Carey, 86, a Sister of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Presentation Convent in Aberdeen.
The Mass of Resurrection for Sister Brigid, will be Saturday, July 8, at 11 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Presentation Convent in Aberdeen. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday with a Scriptural Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.   Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Sarah Lee Carey was born May 22, 1931, in Isabel to Glen C. and Brigid Isabel (Morrison) Carey. She graduated from high school in Mobridge and entered Presentation Convent. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Northern State University in 1967, a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind. in 1974, and a Master of Arts in Spirituality from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Wash. in 1984. Sister Brigid taught fourth through seventh grades for 30 years in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Humbolt and Huron, and Anoka and Wilmar, Minn.
She is survived by her community family of Presentation Sisters; her niece, Grace Griffin; and nephew, Michael Griffin.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Grace Carey, and Elizabeth Griffin; and niece, Mary Griffin Oliverius.
