HURON — The new COVID-19 numbers released Tuesday by the South Dakota Department of Health (DOH) showed the second-largest single-day number of recovered cases in 2021.
The state noted 739 new positive cases, three new deaths, and 1,027 new recovered cases in Tuesday’s report. Active cases in the state are at 7,636.
The 1,027 recovered cases marks the second time in 2021 that the state has reported more than 1,000 recovered cases in a single day. The last day with over 1,000 recovered cases was Jan. 8, when the state reported 1,270 new recovered cases.
Beadle County reported 11 new positive cases and nine new recovered cases. The county noted 94 active virus cases in Tuesday’s report.
Beadle also noted a second hospitalization in the Tuesday report, with both hospitalizations in the county now listed as being in the ICU and one of them being on a ventilator.
The Heartland Region reported 20 new positive cases and 18 new recovered cases among the seven counties in the region.
Active cases in the Heartland are at 208.
