REDFIELD — Stuart Benning, 92, of Redfield, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at the Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center.
His service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 30, at the United Methodist Church in Redfield. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery at Redfield at a later date.
Stuart Gale Benning was born April 3, 1926, near Rockham to James and Bessie (Hare) Benning. He attended the Rockham High School until its closure in 1943. He was united in marriage to Dolores Grace Tanner October 27, 1951. They purchased the Luther Johnson farm east of Redfield and resided there 54 years until 2006. He became a District Sales Manager for the Robinson Seed Company of Waterloo, Neb. When he resigned, he switched his focus to livestock brokering.
He is survived by his children, Kim (Marcia) Benning of Hill City, Joan (Marv Wold) Benning of Plymouth, Minn., Jane Gruenwald (Tom Michaelis) of Redfield; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Beverly Olson.
He was preceded in death by his wife; infant son Scott; and brothers, George, Daryl, Jerry and Russell.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of South Dakota. Undesignated contributions will be used for a bench memorial in the city of Redfield.
