Maria Caceres and son Jose - Native
On the left, Native is the name of this business that offers a unique variety of handmade items at their vendue, which is located at the Carnival entrance. Owners are mother Maria Caceres and son Jose, who have set up at the S.D. State Fair for three years now. The family are originally from Equador, they currently live in Kansas but travel the country to attend fairs and show the crafts they have to offer.
With the variety of necklaces, bracelets, dreamcatchers, clothing, art, and much more, they explained every item is their best seller because each customer is looking for something different. Native is recognized for their specialty of crafting and hand making items as they tend their booth.

From bags to ukuleles, jewelry to clothing, and much more, there is certainly an abundance of different products to choose from, specially made for the people who enjoy something a little different as they walk the fairgrounds.

Kane Thedsomboon — Little Blue Elephant
On the right, the Little Blue Elephant food vendor is usually surrounded by hungry fairgoers, looking for real quality Thai food and Sushi. Kane Thedsomboon is the owner, who was born and raised in Thailand, but currently lives in Minot, N.D., where he owns a restaurant with his specialty menu of authentic Thai dishes.

This is the third year that The Little Blue Elephant has come to the South Dakota State Fair, but has been running his business for 20 years as a whole. The vendor is located right on the corner of the Midway, heading toward Recreation Avenue by the Horticulture Building.
As far as a best selling dish goes, Thedsomboon explained everything on his menu is his best seller. Customers tend to enjoy the drunken noodles, but each dish is popular amongst the crowd. “People come back and can’t wait to see us each year,” he added.
With loyal customers and something different to offer at the fair, The Little Blue Elephant will continue to return to Huron each year at the fair.
