A quick moving, severe thunderstorm dropped more than an inch of rain in a short period of time Wednesday morning in Huron. A spokesperson for the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls said that 1.17 inches of rain was captured in Huron, although a report of 4-inches of rain was reported on the south side of town. The cloudburst flooded numerous low-lying intersections in town, as leaves and small branches from trees affected by the 80-plus mile-per-hour winds that accompanied the storm quickly clogged storm drains in the city. In the first photo, two youngsters make the most of a personal pool that formed at the intersection of 2nd Street and Iowa Ave., although authorities warn that flowing water can be dangerous, while in the next photo, an extensive section of a street in southeastern Huron was also flooded.
