WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Wayne Walker, 70, of Wessington Springs, passed away after a long battle with cancer, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at the Weskota Manor Avera.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday October 28, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. Interment will be in Eventide Cemetery at Woonsocket. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church with the family present.
Wayne was born November 3, 1946, in Huron to Frank and Hazel (Stillman) Walker. He was united in marriage to Betty Maxwell November 15, 1964, and to this union twin daughters were born Karen and Kathleen. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Esther Brooks Paulson January 15, 2000.
He owned and operated Walker Digging and Excavating, where he worked along-side his oldest grandson, Jason for a few years.
He is survived by his wife, Esther of Wessington Springs, twin daughters, Karen (Dean) Hougland of Mitchell, and Kathleen (Foster) Knudson of Huron, daughter, Tammy Voeller of Harrisburg, and son, Brian Voeller of Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his second wife Elaine.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Mitchell hospice.
