Willard Franklin Schwartz, 89, of Redfield

REDFIELD — Willard Franklin Schwartz, 89, of Redfield, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at Redfield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Redfield.  
His Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday December 14, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Redfield. Military honors will follow at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.  Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home. The family requests attendees to wear Minnesota Viking or Twins clothing attire or casual dress.
Willard F. Schwartz was born September 23, 1928, in Miller to Franklin Willard and Henrietta (Throop) Schwartz. After graduating from Redfield High School, he joined the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Doris Barrie August 12, 1954. The couple lived on various farms around the Rockham and Miranda area.
He is survived by his wife; children, Tamara (Bill) Pierce of Aberdeen, Wade (Sandy) Schwartz, Pat (Rob) Isaacson, Larry Schwartz, Sheree Levtzow, Frank (Anna) Schwartz, Sara Schwartz, and Mary Betten all of Redfield; sisters, Dorothy Shannon, and Shirley (Jack) Davis; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Todd; and siblings, Alice Gigax, Betty Reed, and Tom Eaton.
In Lieu of flowers, the family prefers monetary donations to start a Willard Schwartz Scholarship.
