410 Midwest Spring Tour opens at DSFS

HURON — Tim Kaeding of San Jose, Calif., picked up his first win of the season Saturday as the 410 Midwest Sprint Touring Series held its inagural event during the Summer Shakes season opener at Dakota State Fair Speedway.

Kaeding topped the 16-car field in the 20-lap feature race. He started on the outside of the front row and wheeled his way to the victory.

Scott Bogucki of Mclaren Vale, SA, who drives for Liebig Motorsports out of Rapid City, worked his way from fifth to the second spot in the final standings.

Mark Dobmeier of Grand Forks, N.D., was third, followed by Tim Estenson of Fargo, N.D., and Scott Winters of Butterfield, Minn.

Kevin Ingle of Huron notched one of the two MSTS heat wins, but did not finish in the feature race. Earning the other heat win was Dobmeier.

Trevor Nelson of Warner added to his win total at the Huron track with a victory in the 15-lap WISSOTA super stock feature race. He started sixth in the 10-car field.

Jeremy North of Huron moved up three spots to finish second in the super stock main event, while Nathan Grehl of Hitchcock was third.

Rounding out the top five in the super stock division were Doug VanLiere of Madison and Bryson North of Huron.

Earning heat wins in the super stock division were Jeremy North and Grehl.

Jayme Peterson of Highmore collected the win in the WISSOTA Midwest modified feature race. After starting fifth, he held of Scott Hansen of Garden City to secure the victory in the 15-lap race.

Taylor Schmidt of Bath was third, followed by Derek Rieck of Ortonville, Minn., and Brock Hess of Sioux Falls.

Schmidt and Matt Heinzerling of Spearfish won the Midwest modified heat races.

Andy Rossow of Florence reached Victory Lane in the 15-lap WISSOTA street stock feature race.

Rossow started eighth in the 13-car field and worked his way to the front.

Jayden Bogh of Huron started third and finished as the runner-up in the street stock. Maria Broksieck of Goodwin was third, followed by Broc Stout of Winner and Grady Myers of Winner.

Broksieck and Michael Bogh of Huron inked wins in the street stock heat races.

Next up at Dakota State Fair Speedway is a pair of race nights during the Wheel Jam festivities on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds.

Wheel Jam – Wild Race Car Night will be held June 6. The Tri-State Late Model Series will run its first of three events this season at the Huron oval and will be joined by the WISSOTA street stocks, Midwest modifieds and super stocks.

Wheel Jam – Challenge Cup XXII will be held June 8, with the Tri-State late models running for a $5,000 top prize. They will be joined by WISSOTA Midwest modifieds.
