Hitchcock-Tulare 50, Faulkton Area 14
FAULKTON – Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots senior Landon Puffer accounted for four touchdowns and a two-point conversion in the Patriots 50-14 road drubbing of the Faulkton Area Trojans Friday in Faulkton.

Puffer had six catches for 141 yards and three touchdowns, returned five kicks for an average of 48 yards per return, including one that he took back 79 yards for a score, and also converted a 2-point conversion run as Hitchcock-Tulare, the fourth-ranked team in Class 9B, moved to 2-0.

Carter Binger completed 11 of 23 passes for the Patriots for 208 yards and three scores. Erik Samon led the rushing attack with 122 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns and added 11 tackles on defense.

The Patriots host Iroquois/Lake Preston Friday in Hitchcock.

De Smet 36, Stanley County 7
DE SMET – Kadyn Fast hauled in two of Britt Carlson’s three touchdown throws and also returned a punt for a score as De Smet rebounded from an opening week loss to defeat the Stanley County Buffaloes 36-7 at Wilkinson Field on Friday night.

The Bulldogs moved to 1-1 behind Carlson’s 109 yards passing and 30 yards rushing. The De Smet quarterback accounted for three touchdowns and a 2-point conversion through the air.

Fast was on the receiving end of four of Carlson’s seven completions, amassing 66 receiving yards, 30 rushing yards, and totaling three touchdowns.

Tommy Aughenbaugh scored on a 32-yard touchdown catch and Trace Van Regenmorter ran for 62 yards and another score for De Smet.

No individual statistics were available for Stanley County, who falls to 0-2.

The fifth-ranked Bulldogs travel to top-ranked, defending Class 9B champion Dell Rapids St. Mary on Friday for a challenging gridiron battle.

Clark/Willow Lake 28, Webster 7
CLARK – The Clark/Willow Lake Cyclones rebounded from an opening week loss with a resounding 28-7 victory over the Webster Area Bearcats on Friday in Clark.

Tyson Huber rushed for 107 yards and also caught a 17 yard touchdown pass for C/WL, who moves to 1-1. Mitch Larson rushed for 54 yards and Griffin Musser ran for 71 yards for the Cyclones.

Webster (0-2) was led by Brent Bearman, who rushed for 46 yards on offense and also had 13 tackles on defense.

The Cyclones travel to Bridgewater to face off with second-ranked Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan on Friday.

Mount Vernon-Plankington 30, Miller/Highmore-Harrold 13
MILLER – After a 6-0 first half, the Mount Vernon-Plankington Titans turned on the offensive jets in the second half to pull away from the Miller/Highmore-Harrold Rustlers 30-13 in Miller Friday.

While the total yardage numbers favored the Rustlers 262-251, the Titans gained 233 yards on the ground and were able to eat up clock, converting eight third downs and three fourth downs.

Drew Gerlach led the MV-P backfield with 14 rushes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Christopher Mayer added 10 rushes for 79 yards and a score.

Quarterback Reed Rus rushed 19 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and completed just one pass on the game, an eight-yard score to Jordan Stoltz as the Titans move to 2-0.

M/H-H was led by Trey Knox, who passed for 214 yards on 13 of 24 passing with one score. Mason Knox led the Rustler defense with 10 tackles.

Tate Hoffman had 10 rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown and six receptions for 104 yards and a score. He also recorded eight tackles and a sack on defense for the Rustlers.
