Miller runners show well at Mitchell Invite

MITCHELL — Miller teammates Pierce Bamberger and Alex Schumacher claimed the top two spots respectively, in the boys’ varsity race at the Mitchell Cross Country Invite held Saturday at Wild Oak Golf Course in Mitchell.
Baumberger had a winning time of 13:58.43, while Schumacher clocked in at 14:04.50.
The Rustlers had five runners in the top 14, with Tyson Kindle and Isaiah Gortmaker finished No. 10 and 11, respectively, with times of 15:35.56 and 15:35.72. Kellan Hurd was 14th at 15:49.25.
Sam Baruth was 28th for Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 16:48.34, while Edwyn Reyes was 32nd for Wolsey-Wessington at 16:53.94.
Chamberlain claimed the top four spots in the girls’ varsity race, with Kinsey Evans winning the event in 15:50.22.
Madeline Nye of Miller was eighth at 18:06.66, while teammate Gabby Werdel was 11th at 18:17.37.
Olivia Nye was 19th for the Rustlers at 19:49.37, while Sanborn Central/Woonsocket teammates Hannah Terkildsen and Acaiva Schultz were No. 23 and 24, respectively, with times of 20:16.37 and 20:46.59.
The two varsity races and a junior varsity girls’ race were the only races held Saturday due to weather. No team points were kept in any of the divisions.
