HURON — The Beadle County Commission approved six plats during its Tuesday morning meeting.

Two were near Lake Byron, two were on Custer Ave. in the joint jurisdiction area, and a pair in Teresa Township.

The meeting opened with a report from highway supervisor Jason Fritzsche. He explained that the 10 bridge projects in the county are all completed in construction, with three of the ten awaiting gravel before they’ll be re-opened.

Fritsche also stated that he has informed townships in the county that the 5-year bridge plan will be updated and presented at the next commission meeting on Sept. 3.

Representatives from U.S. Fish & Wildlife met with the the commission to discuss acquiring land within the county near the new offices being constructed.

Commissioners discussed the existing emergency plans within the county with Emergency Management Director Dave Jensen.

States Attorney Alyssa Horn provided an update on the work her office is handling currently, including changes in public notification of arrests and diversion programs as well as a full court docket each week lately.

The next county commission meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 9 a.m. in the commission room on the second floor of the courthouse.
