HHS Drama Club presents Fall Play(s)

HURON — For something new and different, this year’s Fall Play at Huron High School is double the fun.

“This year we are doing two one acts - “Big Bad” and “The Disappearance of the Three Little Pigs,” said director Molly Perry.

The shows are Friday and Saturday evenings, with a 7 p.m. curtain both nights.

Adult admission is $5, $3 for students, and activity passes are accepted.

Synopsis
Big Bad is a smart and wickedly funny play that allows the audience to determine the outcome of the play.

The most notorious criminal in the fairy-tale world, Big Bad Wolf, is being slapped with a class-action lawsuit by the countless quirky characters he has wronged.

Now, the two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest — the Evil Stepmother and the Fairy Godmother — will clash (on live Court TV, no less, with Sydney Grimm as commentator) in a trial that will be remembered forever after.

As Little Red Riding Hood, her Grandmother, the Three Little Pigs and the Shepherd in charge of the Boy Who Cried Wolf testify, the wolf seems deserving of all that’s coming.

But, even though the disreputable Evil Stepmother couldn’t be less interested in pro-bono work on such an obviously futile defense, Mr. Wolf makes a good case for himself. Was he born a criminal, or made one? Perhaps he does deserve compassion instead of condemnation? What will the verdict be?

Only the jury — the audience — can decide, when the doddering old Judge invites them to determine the outcome of the trial.

The Disappearance of the Three Little Pigs
Nursery Land characters, both human and animal, coexist in this goofy 1940s spoof of classic film noir detective stories for grown-up kids.

When her triplets disappear, Mrs. Pig hires detective Jack B. Nimble. Jack and his klutzy secretary Miss Muffet suspect B. B. Wolf. Characters from Humpty Dumpty and Henny Penny to Jack and Mrs. Sprat become involved in the investigation before Jack finds the missing boys and earns a dubious award: a kiss from a pig.
