HURON — In recognition of American Heart month, Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) is encouraging community members to protect themselves from the effects of heart attack or stroke through education and prevention.

Dr. Naveen Rajpurohit, cardiologist with Sanford Health who provides outreach services at HRMC Specialty Clinics, will provide a “Love your Heart” presentation at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the HRMC Legacy Plaza  (110 4th Street SE). A light lunch will be offered to those who register by Feb.y 15. Dr. Naveen will share information about heart healthy choices, cholesterol and blood pressure maintenance, and management of cardiovascular disease. HRMC will offer basic cardiac risk assessments including blood pressure checks at the event. RSVP calling 605-353-6315 to sign up.

The best protection against heart attack or stroke is to be aware of risks, know the signs and symptoms of heart disease and the steps that can be taken reduce risk.
