Huron 16U goes 2-2 at Mid Summer Classic

SIOUX FALLS — Huron 16U finished 2-2 during the Mid Summer Classic, which concluded Sunday.

Using seven runs in the second inning, Huron opened a 10-0 lead en route to a 12-0 win in the opening game against Harrisburg Gold on Friday.

Cooper Bischoff had two of the six hits in the game for Huron.

Also recording hits were Nolan Stahly, Chas Schuchhardt, Zach Sheer and Oakley Anderson.

Elijah Shreeve pitched all four innings to record the shutout on the mound for Huron. He allowed ust one hit, while striking out four and walking two.

Excelsior White edged Huron 7-5 on Saturday.

Huron scored four runs in the fifth inning to take its lone lead at 4-1. Excelsior answered with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and added another in the sixth inning.

A rally in the top of the seventh netted another run for Huron, but it ended short.

Gavin Waldner and Anderson each had a pair of hits in the game for Huron, which had a total of six hits.

Stahly pitched the first five innings for Huron, allowing six runs on eight hits with a strikeout and a walk.

Carter Porisch handled the final inning, allowing a run on four hits with a strikeout.

In another game Saturday, Bonivital recorded a 13-5 win against Huron.

Carter Porisch highlighted the offensive effort for Huron with a triple. Also recording hits were Shreeve, Schuchhardt and Tyce Huber.

Bonivital had six runs on six hits against Huron starter Anderson. He recorded two strikeouts, while walking three.

Also pitching for Huron were Crayton Siedschlag and Bischoff.

Huron closed out the event with a 6-2 win against the Northrop Giants on Sunday.

After scoring a pair of runs in the first inning and adding another run in the third inning, Huron put up three runs in the third inning to double its total and take a 6-0 lead.

Korbin Brock had a double to account for one of the six hits in the game for Huron. Also recording hits were Waldner, Jeremy Hofer, Porisch and Siedschlag.

Hofer pitched five innings to earn the win on the mound for Huron. He allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

Shreeve pitched the final inning, allowing a hit, while having two strikeouts.

Huron 16U will travel to face Yankton in a doubleheader at noon on Wednesday.
