Johnson records win at Super Stock Special in Miller

MILLER — Matt Johnson of Aberdeen emerged with his first feature win of the season during the Super Stock Special on Saturday at Miller Central Speedway.

Johnson started on the pole in the 11-car field, which lined up to claim the $1,000 top prize, and stayed out front for the duration of the 15-lap main event.

Trevor Nelson of Warner was second after starting fifth, while Brad Kopecky of Miller was third. Rounding out the top five was Derek Zastrow of Gann Valley and Austin Arbogast of Huron.

Nelson and Shawn Schnabel of Aberdeen won the super stock heat races.

Maria Broksieck of Goodwin claimed her fifth feature win of the season on Saturday in the WISSOTA street stock main event.

After starting seventh in the 16-car field, Broksieck held off Andy Rossow of Florence for the win in the 12-lap main event. James Hoing of Kimbll was third, followed by Michael Bogh of Huron and Grady Myers.

Broksieck and Hoing inked wins in the street stock heat races.

Josh Skorczewski of Aberdeen reached Victory Lane for the third time this season in the WISSOTA late model feature race on Saturday. He held off Mike Stearns of Aberdeen, who was making his late model debut at the track, for the win.

Chase Gelling of Aberdeen was third, followed by Dustin Arthur of St. Lawrence and Brandon Sprinkel of Pierre.

Skorczewski also won the lone late model heat race.

Dawson Zabel of Selby gained five spots in 15 laps to secure his first win of the season in the WISSOTA Midwest modified feature.

Jake Wranek of Sioux Falls, who started third, was second. Jayme Peterson of Highmore was third, followed by Luke Johnson of Miller and Nick Perry of Huron.

Johnson and Jordan Kienow of Miller claimed wins in the Midwest modified heat races.

Dylan Zabel of Selby inked the win in the WISSOTA modified feature race. Stearns was second, followed by Andy Brooker of Tulare and Brad Lawrence of Mitchell.

Stearns claimed the win in the modified heat race.

After finishing second in the heat race, Mike Hammill of Miller rallied from his fourth starting spot to win the Pump-N-Pak pure stock main event.

Cody Songer of Wolsey, who won the division’s lone heat race, was second, followed by Wyatt Schweigert of Huron, Mitch Scott of Ft. Pierre and Shawn Laskarzewski of St. Lawrence.

Racing returns to Miller Central Speedway on July 27, with a regular night of racing. All six classes will be in action.
