BROOKINGS – The Huron Middle School cross country team competed in the Mickelson Middle School meet in Brookings Thursday.

“It was a hot one,” coach Angie Thomas stated. “But the kids worked hard.”

Lily Meyer was the top Huron finisher of the day, taking home second in the girls’ 3K race. She finished with a time of 13:48.3. Grace McElory of Watertown won the race with a time of 12:59.4. Kinsley Armstrong of Huron finished 13th with a time of 15:27.9 to earn medal status on the day, which required finishing in the top 15 of a race.

In the boys’ 3K, Trevin Lounsbury of Brookings won with a time of 12:11.9. Huron’s Sebastian Olivo medaled in the race, placing 12th with a time of 13:35.1.

A trio of Sioux Valley runners topped the girls’ 2K race, with Maci Licht leading the pack at 8:03.8. Huron’s Ramsey Rozell was the first non-Cossack to cross the finish line, coming in fourth with a time of 8:55.1. Reva McGaugh (12th, 9:34.4) and Kayleigh Nicola (14th, 9:41.5) also medaled for the Tigers.

Aberdeen’s Jackson Dargerts won the boys’ 2K with a time of 7:59.7. Ira Sarvis finished ninth with a time of 8:54.9 and Max Radke finished 12th with a time of 9:20.3 to medal.
