Huron hosts golf tourney Friday

HURON — With four of the top 10 golfers in the field, O’Gorman edged Watertown for the team title during the Huron Invitational on Friday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.
The Knights finished at 303, which was two strokes better than Watertown.
Harrisburg was third with a 317, followed by Brandon Valley at 328 and Brookings at 334 to round out the top five in the 11-team event.
Huron fielded just three golfers so was unable to post a team score.
Jake Olson of Watertown emerged with the individual title.
Olson shot a 1-under par 71 to edge Hayden Scott of Harrisburg by a stroke for the top spot.
Radley Mauney of O’Gorman, Kaden Rylance of Watertown and Lincoln Bates of Mitchell shared the third spot with scores of 73.
O’Gorman teammates Taten Mauney and Mac Drake shared the sixth spot with scores of 76, while Liam Sarmiento of O’Gorman had a 78 to finish tied for eighth with Colby Meyer of Brandon Valley and Dakota Munger of Chamberlain.
Aiden Zavesky had the low score for Huron with a 90, which placed him in a tie for spot No. 47. Riley Jankord had a 112 for the Tigers, while Jack Bales finished at 115.
The Huron golfers will be back in action on Aug. 30 at the Aberdeen Central Invite.
