PIERRE — Bolstered by a pair of victories in the throws by Bryan Ramirez, the Huron boys’ track team finished seventh at the Pierre Legion Relays on Monday.

Brandon Valley amassed 105 points to edge Pierre by two points for the top spot in the final boys’ standings. Sioux Falls

Washington was third in the 9-team event with 95, followed by Yankton at 92 and Mitchell at 72.

Huron had 49 points, which placed it 10 points behind Custer for the sixth spot.

Ramirez won the shot put for the Tigers with a throw of 52-5.75.

Ramirez also won the discus with a mark of 150-0, while teammates Anderson Porisch and Tyson Pfitzer were fifth and sixth, respectively, with throws of 122-2.5 and 122-2. Pfitzer was also third in the javelin at 149-3, while Kobly Hofer was seventh at 138-5.

Thackery Hansen was second for Huron in the 100-meter race with a time of 11.29 seconds. He was also third in the 200 at 22.52.

TJ Lien was eighth for the Tigers in the 3,200 with a time of 10:54.85. Micah Larson fourth in the pole vault at 11-3, while Kolton Ogle tied for seventh in the high jump at 5-8.

The Huron girls finished tied for seventh in the team standings with 20 points.

Brandon Valley also claimed the girls’ team title with 176 points. Sioux Falls Washington was second at 104.5, followed by Pierre at 86, Custer at 78 and Mitchell at 68.5.

Hamtyn Heinz was second for the Tigers in the javelin with a throw of 100-9, while teammate Hylton Heinz was fifth at 100-3, while Alyse Davis was seventh at 95-1.

Cameron Ruth was third for Huron in the pole vault. Lizzy Heinen was seventh in the high jump at 4-10, while Makenzie

Siemonsma tied for eighth at 4-8 and Zaniyah Lanier was eighth in the 100 at 13.20.

Josie Vlieger was eighth for the Tigers in the 3,200 at 13:24.88, while Siemonsma was sixth in the 100 hurdles at 17.27.

The Huron teams will be at the First Dakota Relays in Yankton on Thursday at 2 p.m.
