Sioux Falls East inks wins over Post 7

SIOUX FALLS — The Huron Post 7 Tigers dropped a pair of games Tuesday evening to Sioux Falls Post 15 East in Sioux Falls.

In the opener, a nine-run first inning set the table for an 11-1 victory for Post 15.

Layne Wenzel took the mound to open for the Tigers, tossing three innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out two. Tommie Martin threw the final 1 2/3 innings, allowin two runs on a hit and three walks.

Bubba Peterson was the lone Post 7 hitter to reach base twice, slapping a single and taking a walk.

Post 15 starter Sawyer Mindt befuddled the Post 7 offense in the nightcap, throwing a complete game seven-inning gem as Post 15 claimed a 6-0 victory.

Mindt allowed just one hit and three walks while striking out 10 Post 7 hitters.

Jack Pedersen took the mound for Post 7, throwing four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks, striking out four. Logan Leyendecker tossed the final two innings, allowing a pair of runs on a hit while striking out two.

Leyendecker was the lone Post 7 hitter to record a hit, securing a single and a walk. Brady Feenstra had a pair of walks.

Post 7 will take a 3-8 record into a weekend tournament in Sioux Falls beginning today.
