HURON — The Huron Tigers got a rude welcome to playoff baseball Friday night, dropping the opening game of regional play to the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots by a score of 11-1 at the Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls.
Tommie Martin took the hill for the Tigers to open the game, tossing three innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out two. Bubba Peterson finished the game with three runs allowed in one inning of relief on three hits and a walk.
The Tiger bats were only able to put together one hit, but did have six base runners in the game, though no hitter reached base twice. Trace Wenz swiped a base for the Tigers.
Huron will attempt to force a game three in the best-of-three series at 11 a.m. today.
