BROOKINGS — The Huron girls’ tennis team came up on the short end of a pair of matches against Class AA schools on Saturday at Hillcrest Tennis Courts.

Yankton got past the Tigers 6-3, while Aberdeen Central recorded an 8-1 victory.

“We had some tough competition today, but the girls played will in their matches,” Huron coach Rachel Kary said.

Bianca Medina earned a pair of singles wins at No. 3 for the Tigers. She won 10-6 against Paige Mitzel of Yankton and pulled out a 10-7 win against Carly Comstock to account for Huron’s lone win against Aberdeen Central.

Ann Hoek also had a singles win for the Tigers at No. 6 against Yankton. She needed a 9-7 win in a tiebreaker to edge Meagan Scott 10-9.

Hoek also teamed with Say Ma to record a 10-5 win against Addison Gordon and Kara Koerner of Yankton in No. 3 doubles.

The Tigers will travel to face Madison and Brookings in a triangular on Thursday in Madison.
