WESSINGTON — It’s time to mark your calendars for the annual Wessington Fun Days on July 19 and 20. This exciting event promises hometown fun, delicious food, and a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old friends and classmates.

Kick off the weekend in style on Friday, July 19 — gather under the tent at 4 p.m. for a social hour that’s the perfect way to reconnect with friends and make some new ones. Then, get ready for a thrilling game of BINGO at the Legion at 5:30 p.m. — it’s the perfect way to get your weekend started on a winning note!

And when you think it can’t get any better, comedy superstar Willie Myles takes the stage at 8 p.m. in the gym, bringing his signature blend of humor and wit to keep you laughing.. It’s the ultimate way to kick off a fun-filled weekend in Wessington!

Saturday’s lineup is packed with activities for everyone. The day begins with a delightful pancake breakfast at the American Legion Hall from 7:30 to 9 a.m., fueling you up for the fun-filled day ahead. For the early birds, there’s a Fun Run/Walk starting at 8:30 a.m., with registration at the American Legion Hall at 8 a.m.

The second annual turtle race will follow the color run, promising entertainment for participants and spectators alike.

One of the highlights of the day is the “Wessington Through the Decades” parade, commencing at 10:30 a.m. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your Wessington pride, and all parade entries are welcome.

For sports enthusiasts, the afternoon offers a thrilling pickleball tournament hosted by the WWS girls basketball team at noon. If you’re looking for something more unconventional, don’t miss the Axe Throwing event starting at 11 a.m. on Main Street — it’s sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Of course, no festival is complete without delicious food, and Wessington Fun Days won’t disappoint. Various concessions and businesses will offer a tempting array of treats, including refreshing root beer floats at R & B Food Center following the parade.

For the younger attendees, the city swimming pool will be open, and fun inflatables will be set up in the City Park, ensuring a day packed with excitement and laughter. And for those with a sweet tooth, a pie and ice cream social with live entertainment awaits at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church, promising a delightful afternoon treat.

As the day transitions into evening, the fun continues with a bean bag tournament at 5 p.m. The highlight of the evening is the pork loin supper beginning at 6 p.m. under the big tent, providing a perfect opportunity to refuel and relax before the night’s grand finale.

To conclude the day’s festivities with a bang, a street dance featuring music by the Dirty Word Band will start at 8:45 p.m. on Main Street, promising great music and even better company. It’s a fantastic way to let loose, reminisce, and create new memories with old friends and classmates.
