HURON — Community Liaison Mickie Scheibe and Registered Nurse Dennise Brock were guest speakers at a recent Huron Noon Lions Club meeting.

They presented information about diabetes projects at Huron Regional Medical Center.

Community members interested in becoming more educated about self-management of diabetes to improve their health may enroll in free six-week long series of workshops.

For more information, contact HRMC community liaisons at 605-353-6516.

Lion Dianne Gropper presented information about Camp Gilbert, a camp for kids ages 8-18 with type 1 diabetes. Camp Gilbert provides a safe camping experience for youth living with Type 1 diabetes and managing tips to learn about the disease, self-acceptance, and how to apply those learned skills in their personal lives.

Huron Lions Clubs offer full scholarships to Beadle County youth who apply and are accepted. For more information log into www.campgilbert.com, contact your school nurse, or call Gropper at 605-352-0394.
