HURON — The Yankton Lakers 14U club were ungracious guests on Saturday, sweeping a pair of games from the Huron 13/14U club by scores of 8-4 and 15-4 at Klock Field.

Yankton jumped on the scoreboard first in the opener, scoring three runs in the top of the second. After Yankton added another run in the top of the third, Huron fought back with three runs in the bottom of the third, but that’s as close as the home squad would get. Yankton added on again in the sixth to close out an 8-4 win.

Parker Bischoff took the mound to open for Huron, allowing six runs over five innings on six hits and four walks, striking out two.

Jimmie Martin closed out the game, allowing two runs on a hit and a walk, striking out one.

Huron managed just three hits, but did have 11 baserunners in the game.

Jackson Ford had a walk, was hit by pitch, and stole a base. Colt Culver had a single and a walk.

Ryker Shelton drew a pair of walks.

Colin Hogle and Martin each had a stolen base.

The Lakers pushed across four runs in the top of the first inning in the nightcap and never let up, earning a 15-4 victory.

Martin opened the game on the bump for Huron, tossing 1 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs (four earned) on three hits and six walks while striking out three.

Noah Koops tossed 1 1/3 innings of relief, allowing two unearned runs on a walk and a hit by pitch, striking out two.

Quincey Rashaad closed out the final inning allowing two unearned runs while striking out two.

Ford paced the offense, with a double, a walk, and a pair of stolen bases. Bischoff walked twice and stole two bases.

Ernest Wallette had a walk and was hit by pitch. Jayden Ryman drew a pair of walks. Nate Gray stole a base.

Huron will take a 3-5-1 record into today’s home doubleheader against Aberdeen at Klock Field beginning at 5 p.m.
