HURON The Beadle County Commission held a special meeting Tuesday morning to meet with representatives from the employee insurance committee before approving a health insurance plan.
After an extended executive session to discuss details surrounding the plans, the commission reconvened to vote. The first motion presented was to go with American Trust Insurance, but with one abstaining vote, that vote was left tied 2-2 among the five commissioners. A second motion to accept and go with the committees recommendation died for lack of a second.
After further discussion about the details of who manages the insurance and files claims within the county, a motion was made to bundle the health insurance along with the vision, dental, and life and go with First Stop Insurance as the agent on the plan. This was approved with one nay vote among the commissioners.
The next Beadle County Commission meeting is Tue., Dec. 10, at 9 a.m. at the commission room in the courthouse.
