Special education refers to tailored educational programs, services, and practices designed to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities. The goal is to provide all students, regardless of ability, with the opportunity to succeed academically and socially.

The Special Education Team has used a new reading program this year with the Lets Go Learn program and students have shown growth. We have several students who enjoy these programs, and they are happy learners. The adventurous atmosphere at Buchanan is addictive. We have a great team that forms our annual IEP meetings. The teachers collaborate with us to help us serve each student with all the needs they have.

The para staff and fabulous custodian has gone above and beyond filling in any gap. The building thrives with respect for all.

Probably one of the most exciting pieces of news is the level of collaboration between buildings as Mckinley has allowed us to visit the students for next year and Madison has dropped by to meet their new students. This makes us all excited as we look forward to the future and can prepare for the needs of our students.

One of the joys of being a Special Education teacher is learning the personality of each student.

Many students show affection and at time make us laugh as they can say the funniest things.

We just celebrated Dr. Seuss days so we will end with this quote today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one quite you, so be you.
