MILLER Starting on the front row paid dividends on Saturday during the season opener at Miller Central Speedway.
Three of the six feature winners took the green flag to start the race from the front row.
Dustin Arthur of St. Lawrence jumped out front from his starting spot on the outside of the front row to secure win in the 15-lap WISSOTA late model main event.
Chad Becker of Aberdeen was second, while Mike Stearns of Aberdeen wheeled his way from the 10th starting spot to finish third. Rounding out the top five were Trevor Anderson of Watertown, who won on Friday night at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, and Jayson Good of Watertown.
Aberdeen drivers Chase Gelling and Josh Skorczewski won the late model heat races.
Jayme Peterson of Highmore started on the pole and claimed the win in the WISSOTA Midwest modified main event.
Matt Heinzerling of Spearfish moved up two spots to finish second, while Todd Stark of Watertown was third. Finishing in fourth and fifth, respectively, were Nick Perry of Huron at Lane Johnson of Miller.
Peterson and Paul Parks of Owanka were the Midwest modified heat winners.
Grady Myers of Winner also started on the pole and inked a win in the WISSOTA street stock feature.
Maria Broksieck of Goodwin, who started on the outside of the sixth row, piloted her street stock to a runner-up finish. Odie Michaelsohn of Aberdeen was third, followed by Jayden Michaelsohn of Aberdeen and Matt Goth of Huron.
Kyle Bertam of Dallas and Andy Rossow of Florence won the street stock heat races.
Dale Ames of Huron started on the inside of the second row and earned the win in the WISSOTA modified feature race.
Garrett Gross of Aberdeen was second, while Adam Brotherton of Huron, who was making his debut in the division, was third. Lane Johnson of Miller was fourth and Chris Moore of Madison was fifth.
Ames also won the lone modified heat race.
Trevor Nelson of Warner also moved two spots to claim the win in the WISSOTA super stock feature. Brad Kopecky of Miller gained three spots to finish second, as did Kenneth Clements of Madison, who was third.
Rounding out the top five were Derek Zastrow of Gann Valley and Wyatt Schweigert of Huron.
Nelson also won the super stock heat race, gaining five spots in the 8-lap race.
The biggest move to win a main event was in the Pump-N-Pak pure stock division where Mike Hammill of Miller started fourth en route to the win.
Cody Songer of Wolsey was second, followed by Bruce Scott of Pierre, Mitchel Scott of Ft. Pierre and Wyatt Walsh of Kimball.
Songer won the pure stock heat race.
Racing returns to Miller Central Speedway at 7 p.m. Friday with the first night of a doubleheader. All six classes will be in action both nights, with the final night slated for 7 p.m. Saturday.
