W/WS/SC wins state-ranked battle in Class 11B

FORESTBURG In a matchup between two ranked Class 11B teams, fifth-ranked Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central recorded a 13-6 victory against second-ranked Wagner on Friday.

Grant Edwards and Wesley Molnar each had touchdowns for the Bucks, who improved to 5-0.
Molner had five catches for 42 yards and rushing 12 times for 41 yards, while Edwards had two receptions for 24 yards.

Molnar and Edwards also had big nights on the defensive side of the ball for W/WS/SC.

Molnar had three interceptions, while Edwards had an interception.

Hunter Fenske had four tackles and a sack for the Bucks, while Grady Gran had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery and Colby Flowers had six tackles and three pressures.

Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central will travel to face Miller/Highmore-Harrold on Friday in Miller.

Hitchcock-Tulare 42, Sunshine Bible Academy 22
MILLER Devin Enander threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a pair of scores to lead Hitchcock-Tulare to a 42-22 victory against Sunshine Bible Academy on Friday.

The Patriots, who improved to 2-3, opened a 20-0 lead in the first quarter.

Max Gilbert scored on a 22-yard run and Enander had TD runs of 33 and 20 yards.

Hitchcock-Tulare added three more touchdowns in the second quarter to to build a 42-8 lead.

Morgan Bottum hauled in a 13-yard touchdown pass from Enander to make it 28-0 and then Enander connected with Patrick Maynard on an 11-yard scoring strike to make it 36-0.

Derek Johnson capped the scoring for the Patriots in the opening half with a 15-yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left on the clock.

Tarrence Mickelson scored the first of his two touchdowns in the game for Sunshine Bible Academy in the second quarter on a 56-yard run.

He then broke free for an 88-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Toby Mickelson had the other TD for SBA in the fourth quarter on a 73-yard pass from Tarrence Mickelson to cap the scoring.

Enander carried the ball six times of 89 yards to lead Hitchcock-Tulare.

He also converted on 5 of 7 passes for 67 yards.

Gilbert finished with 86 yards on 10 carries for the Patriots, while Johnson had three carries for 29 yards and Carson VanBuskirk had 12 carries for 27 yards.

Bottum was the leading receiver with three catches for 41 yards, while Maynard had 26 yards on two catches and David Bixler had a 15-yard catch.

Tucker Gilbert had four solo stops and an assisted tackle for the Patriots, while Preston Wipf and Johnson each had three solo tackles and two assisted tackles.

Bottun and Tucker Gilbert each had an interception for Hitchcock-Tulare, while Tucker Gilbert also had a fumble recovery.

Tarrence Mickelson amassed 146 yards on the ground with four carries for Sunshine Bible Academy.

He also completed one pass for 73 yards.

Carter Crump had 15 carries for 43 yards for the Crusaders, who are now 1-5.

Lucas Nelson and Crump each had eight tackles for SBA. Toby Mickelson had five tackles and a fumble recovery.

Both teams return to action Friday. Hitchcock-Tulare travels to play Ipswich, while Sunshine Bible Academy is at Corsica-Stickney.
