MITCHELL James Valley Christian, which is the top-ranked boys soccer team in Class A, capped the regular season with a 1-0 victory against Mitchell on Thursday at Joe Quintal Field.
It was the fourth win in a row for the Vikings and third consecutive shutout for goalkeeper Jonah Niederbaumer. They finished the regular season at 11-1.
JVC capitalized on an opportunity to score in the final minute of the game to secure the win.
A shot by Carson Dorris bounced off the post the waiting feet of teammate Isaac Fast. The shot by Fast was saved by a Mitchell defender, but Keegan Loewen was able to get the ball past the recovering goalkeeper for the the game-winning goal.
Mitchell won the time of possession battle in the game and finished with a 21-11 advantage in shots on goal.
Niederbaumer finished with 16 saves in the game, while Luke Miller also had a save.
Mitchell recorded a 3-0 victory in the junior varsity game.
Brady Wipf and Keeghann Hood split time in the net for the Vikings, who ended the JV season at 2-2-2.
JVC will open the postseason with a home game on Tuesday. An opponent or time has not been announced yet.

HURON James Valley Christian posted its highest score of the season during a shutout against Dakota Valley on Saturday at JVC Field.
The Vikings inked its second straight shutout with a 7-0 victory to improve to 10-1.
Isaac Fast had a pair of goals for the Vikings, w hile Keeghann Hood, Carson Dorris, Noah Fast, Kolby VanDerWerff and Monty Gross each had a goal.
Gavin Waldner had a pair of assists for the Vikings, who finished with a 31-11 shots-on-goal advantage.
Jonah Niederbaumer recorded the shutout in the net with five saves for JVC.
The junior varsity game finished tied 1-1. Niederbaumer had the lone goal for the Vikings on a penalty kick after Brady Wipf was fouled in the penalty box.
On Thursday, JVC emerged with a 3-0 victory against Groton Area.
Isaac Fast opened the scoring with a long-range shot, which found the net in the 17th minute.
The score remained 1-0 until the half.
Noah Fast also found the net from long range to open the scoring for the Vikings in the second half.
Waldner had the final goal on a pass from Hood late in the game.
A strong second half helped JVC to a 31-12 advantage in shots.
Niederbaumer tallied nine saves.
The Vikings will close the regular season with a 5:30 p.m., game at Mitchell on Thursday.
