SIOUX FALLS — Three area wrestlers closed the season with state championships on Saturday at the Class B State Tournament at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
Junior Jacksen Carter capped a perfect season for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington by winning a state title at 138 pounds.
Carter, who went 41-0 this season, escaped with a 2-1 decision against DeVonne Sessler of Bon Homme/Avon (42-8) to win the title.

Miller/Highmore-Harrold had a pair of state champions in Talon Ping and Chase Hurd.
Ping, a senior, capped his high school career with a 41-7 record this season. He recorded a 9-6 decision against Owen Bunde of Tri-Valley to claim the title at 132.
Hurd turned in a 45-5 record during his sophomore campaign for the Bandits, which ended with a 4-1 decision over Jaeden Jorgenson of Webster Area, who was 29-1, in the championship match at 144.
Ethan Rearick was fourth at 144 for Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington, while Will Hosman was sixth at 106 for Miller/Highmore-Harrold.
Kaden Wookey at 126 and Cooper Pommer at 138 were third for Clark/Willow Lake, while Cade Gaikowski was fourth at 120 and Austin Vig was seventh at 165.
Kingsbury County has six place winners at the state tournament.
Greyson Nielson was fourth for the Knights at 157, while Blake Jennings was sixth at 165. Chase Henriksen at 120, Cody Zell at 144, Donovan Sandven at 175 and Breyten Johnson at 285 were all seventh.
Jace Edgar was the highest finisher for Redfield, taking fifth place at 106. Maddon Odland at 113 and Conner Zens at 138 were sixth.
Canton won the Class B boys’ team title with 161.5 points, while Winner was second at 149. Rounding out the top five were Tri-Valley at 137, Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes at 136 and Bon Homme/Avon at 102.5
Miller/Highmore-Harrold finished ninth at 61, followed by Kingsbury County at 60 and Clark/Willow Lake at 59.5. Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington was 13th at 49.5.
