In an announcement posted to their Facebook page on Tuesday, the South Dakota State Fair announced that Legend Seeds is sponsoring country music performer Jake Owen as the headline performer for Sunday at the 2026 fair.
A fraternal twin, Jake got his first taste of professional entertainment and competition as a golfer. After a devastating injury, Owen picked up guitar while recovering, and he moved to Nashville to begin playing gigs and songwriting.
In 2006, Owen signed with RCA Nashville. He’s released eight studio albums and won the best new male artist of 2008 from the Academy of Country Music.
Owen has recorded five No. 1 singles, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Alone with You,” “The One That Got Away,” “Anywhere with You” and “Beachin’.” Owen becomes the second announced headliner for the 2026 State Fair, with Nate Smith announced as the Saturday headliner. The fair will kick off with the Red Wilk Construction Tuff Hedeman Bull Bash on Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Backrest signage and Friends of the Fair presale is Monday, May 11, through Thursday, May 14. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, May 19.
