Huron Police Department to participate in DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 25

The Huron Police Department encourages residents to participate in the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25.

Unused or expired prescription drugs can be a public safety issue whether they potentially are taken incorrectly by a child or enter into the water system through flushing or rinsing.

Instead, Huron residents are encouraged to utilize the drop box in the lobby of City Hall to dispose of prescription medications 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Since the police department started participating in 2011, more than 2,379 pounds of prescription medications have been collected locally.
