Heartland Cuisine: American Lutheran Church Spring Salad Luncheon

The congregation of American Lutheran Church invites you to come and join us for our annual Spring Salad Luncheon. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the church located at 155 Fourth Street SE in Huron. An elevator is accessible from the Iowa Street entrance. The luncheon will feature a variety of salads, including meat, veggie, pasta, and fruit, along with deviled eggs, crackers, bars, and coffee. If you are unable to stay to eat, we will be happy to have you come, dish up your salads, and take your meal with you. The cost of the luncheon is $10 per person and funds raised will be used to update church kitchen equipment.

This year we are also having a bake sale, plant sale, and a craft & such sale. The “such” sale includes items that are looking for a new home. The sales will be held inside the elevator entrance on Iowa Avenue. The event is sponsored by the American Lutheran Church Women (ALCW) and is a church-wide event that includes both men and women helping.

A few of our ALCW missions include monetary donations to: St. Dysmas (prison ministries), Huron area Backpack program, ALC Christian Learning Center, and the Salvation Army Christmas Basket Program. Each Tuesday morning throughout the year we gather to make quilts that are donated not only to Lutheran World Relief to be distributed around the world, but also to a variety of charitable organizations. We also present quilts to veterans, those being baptized in our church, our ALC high school graduates, and ALC members in the local nursing and assisted Living facilities. Our church women (ALCW) meet at 1:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month and we would love to have you join us. We have a Bible study followed by our general business meeting and refreshments.

Our church worship services are held Saturday evenings at 6 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. They are live-streamed on our church Facebook page (American Lutheran Church-Huron, SD). Sunday School for youth preschool through 5th grade is held at 10:45 a.m. Sunday mornings. All are welcome!

American Lutheran Church Christian Learning preschool (CLC) for ages 3-5 meets September through May. Preschool registrations are presently being taken for the 2026-2027 school year.
