HURON — The Wessington Springs boys and the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket girls won titles at the 281 Conference Golf Tournament on Thursday at Broadland Creek Golf Course.

Wessington Springs had three of the top six golfers in the tournament for a low round of 245.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was second in the final boys’ standings at 259, while Wolsey-Wessington was third at 267. Rounding out the field were Iroquois/Lake Preston at 294 and Highmore-Harrold at 340.

Larz Tvedt of Wolsey-Wessington shot a 2-under-par 70 to win the 281 Conference individual championship.

Luke Larson of Wessington Springs was second with a 77, while Sanborn Central/Woonsocket teammates Sam Baruth and McCoy Schulz were third and fourth, respectively, with scores of 82 and 83.

Heyns Bothma of Wessington Springs was fifth at 83, followed by teammates JD Thompson at 85 and Tucker Thompson at 86.

Rounding out the top 10 were Skylar Thielbar of James Valley Christian at 88, Caleb Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington at 89 and Kobe Schley of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 90.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was the lone girls’ team in the event and finished with a score of 337.

Belle Niederbaumer of James Valley Christian won the 281 Conference girls’ title with a 94. Addison Bartholow of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was second at 110, while Kaitlyn Brau of Wessington Springs was third at 111.

Allison Westendorf of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket was fourth at 111 and Tenley Olinger of Wessington Springs was fifth at 115.

Rounding out the field were Sanborn Central/Woonsocket teammates Addy Baruth at 116, Haylee Foos at 119 and Jalyn Grassel at 126.
