LARAMIE, Wyo. — Layni Stevens is capping her collegiate rodeo career with her first appearance at the College National Finals Rodeo for the University of Wyoming.

Stevens, a St. Lawrence native, finished fourth in the Central Rocky Mountain Region in goat tying for the Cowgirls. “Watching Layni qualify for her first CNFR has been incredibly rewarding. She has continued to improve every year, and her commitment to the process has paid off,” said Huron High School graduate Jacey Hupp, who is an assistant coach at Wyoming. “We’re proud of the way she competes, the incredible teammate she is, and the way she represents our program. We’re excited to watch her compete in Casper!”

Stevens is one of 16 CNFR qualifiers for Wyoming. The CNFR begins June 16 with nightly performances running through June 20. Stevens helped the Cowgirls win the Central Rocky Mount Region title this season with 928 points. She was the All-Around Champion at the Colorado State and Eastern Wyoming College Rodeos, while also being the barrel racing champion at the Eastern Wyoming College Rodeo.
