CAVOUR — Arlene Haarstad, 80, of Cavour, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society at De Smet.
Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Kuhler Funeral Home. Her service will be livestreamed through the Kuhler Funeral Home website. Burial will follow in the LeSueur Cemetery at Bancroft.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Kuhler Funeral Home, with her family present from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening.
Arlene was born December 8, 1940, to Elmer and Doris (Baker) Korkow at Bancroft.
On May 8, 1959, Arlene married Dennis Haarstad at Bancroft. Other than one year in Montana, they resided in and around both De Smet and Cavour. Arlene and Dennis have three children; Tony, Tammy and Tricia.
Arlene had the gift of hospitality; her door was always open to family and friends. Throughout her life she enjoyed a good game of cards or scrabble, two-stepping with Dennis and a weekend at the lake. She also loved spending time with her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Dennis Haarstad; son, Tony (Kathy) Haarstad and their children, Jamie (Jacob) Schaeffer, Alan (Kat) Haarstad and Eric Haarstad; daughter, Tammy Alme and her children, Sarah (Paul) Fullerton, Roy (Katie) Metter, Betsi (Chase) Flint and Sophia Alme; daughter, Tricia (Terry) Holland and their children, Trevin and Tory Holland; siblings, Jerry (Marilyn) Korkow of Iroquois, Roger (Sharon) Korkow of Cavour and a sister-in-law, Nicki Korkow of Huron; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, who were dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gene Korkow.
