WESSINGTON SPRINGS — Audree L. Edwards, 86, of Wessington Springs, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at her residence.
Her memorial service will be 2 p.m., Saturday October 21, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. Inurnment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Audree Louise Hawk was born August 3, 1931, in Wessington Springs to Frank and Chlora (Bourne) Hawk. She grew up during the Great Depression and attended school in Wessington Springs. She was united in marriage to Dwayne Edwards September 9, 1948. She was one of the original “pioneer” women; growing a garden, canning food, making homemade butter, baking bread, and making quilts. She also was a para professional for the Wessington Springs High School, penned an entertaining newspaper column, and worked as a home health aide until she was 80 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Jim) Keyser of Wessington Springs; sons, Randy (Cathie) Edwards of Rapid City, Phillip (Lisa) Edwards of Wessington Springs, and David (Kristi) Edwards of Huron; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Max (Jane) Hawk of Yankton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne; three brothers; and three sisters.
