MITCHELL — Billy Stransky, 80, of Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at his home in Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 13, at Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery at rural Corsica. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Bill Stransky was born November 23, 1936, at Fedora to to Fred and Goldie (North) Stransky. He was united in marriage to Marlys Herron April 5, 1959.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the early 1950’s and kept in touch with the remaining men he had served with.
He worked in maintenance at the hospital in Huron, as a foreman at the State Fairgrounds, and as head maintenance man for Sutton Rodeos in Onida until retiring and moving back to Mitchell in 2003. After retiring he worked for the Green Thumb program in Mitchell and for a local hotel doing maintenance. He always had some kind of do-it-yourself project going and was always willing to help family and friends with projects as well.
He is survived by his three daughters, Susan (Omar) Durfee, Cindy (Lloyd) Bunch, and Pamela; sisters, Evelyn Herron, Vivian Kaul, and Vina Maeschon; brother, Jack Stransky; many nephews; neices; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlys; and son, Scott; siblings, Albert, Arthur, Maybel, Vera, and Raymond.
