HURON — The Sanborn-Central Woonsocket Blackhawks move forward in the run for the championship place for the girls’ basketball 281 Conference, after a 44-38 win over the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds.
Sanborn Central-Woonsocket, now with an improved season record of 6-4, were led by Megan Poyer with 12 points. Tessa Jensen followed with 11, while Abby Doering added nine more.
Chantel Haider and Kailen Krause led the Warbirds, now 2-7 on the season, with eight points each, while Taylor Sprecher followed with six.
The Warbirds will fight for third place on Thursday for more girls’ basketball action.
