TULARE — Elton Bruce MacNeill, 91, of Tulare, passed away November 14, 2017, at the Redfield Care and Rehab Center in Redfield.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Tulare United Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery at rural Tulare. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday followed by a prayer service at Thelen-Hyke Funeral Home in Redfield with the family present at 5 p.m.
Bruce was born January 15, 1926, near Tulare to Elton and Ella (Schultz) MacNeill. He graduated from Tulare High School in 1944. He was united in marriage to Alice Iona Binger June 8, 1945. After serving in the U.S. Army, he returned to farming. and custom haystack moving. He was a member of the Tulare United Church, Lions Club, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Lynn (Kay) MacNeill of Sebring, Fla., Jeannette (Lyle) Kleinsasser of Iroquois, Deanne (Lyle) Ness of Huron, Brian (Kristine) MacNeill of Bend, Ore., and Colleen (Dale) Kightlinger of Onamia, Minn.; sisters, Carolyn (Deane) Antoine, of Madelia, Minn., and Mikki (Kurt) Permann of Redfield; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; plus a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Charles (Patricia) MacNeill of Spokane, Wash.; and his great-grandson, Aiden Ness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to Redfield Care- Rehab Center, Alzheimer’s Association, and Tulare United Church.
