WOONSOCKET — Donna Jean Burkel, 73, of Woonsocket, died of natural causes at her home in rural Alpena on Friday July 17, 2020.
Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Basham Funeral Chapel in Woonsocket, with the Rev. Zach Kingery officiating.
Visitations will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 5- to 7 p.m.
Donna Jean Burkel, was born March 8, 1947, to Roland and Blanche (Hibbard) Wieting in Huron. On Feb. 17,1973, she married Donald Burkel in Wessington Springs. She worked at the Salvation Army in Huron.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Woonsocket; children, Danaee Marquette of Aurora, Jona Hokanson (Mike Wanous) of Huron, and Mathew (Sarah) Burkel and Curtis Burkel, both of Woonsocket; eight grandchildren and four great-grand-children; and a sister, Rolanda Larive of Huron.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Elroy Wieting, a sister, Mary Johnson, a son, Daniel Thompson, and a granddaughter.
