HURON — Gladyce Owens, 85, of Huron, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2017, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Gladyce J. Meyers, was born January 19, 1932, in Vayland to Andrew and Matilda (Freese) Meyers. She and her family moved to a farm near Huron in 1941, where she graduated from Huron High School.
She was united in marriage to Harold Dean Owens October 15, 1949, in Huron. She began work at the Red Spencer Bowling Alley, then at Harold’s, Harlan Nelson’s Double “H” Ice Cream Store ,and at Harold’s Café from 1962 until 1989. After Harold’s Café closed, She continued working at various places in Huron including the Super Value Deli, and at the Huron School Lunch Program.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Harold; two sons, Steve Owens and Mark (Ginger Rostyne) Owens, both of Huron; grandson, Benjamin (Katlyn) Rostyne; and great-grandchildren, Baylee and Brody Rostyne; two brothers, Lyle Meyers and Gene Meyers; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matilda and Andrew; eight siblings, George Meyers, Bernard (Marie) Meyers, Ernest Meyers, Alva Meyers, Art (Rita) Meyers, Lucille (Joe) Maunders, Angeline (John) Forbes, and Frank Meyers.
