HURON — A milestone accomplishment for Huron bowler Wes Goehner included the 10th perfect game of his career during the Universal League on Sept. 21 at Fair City Lanes.
Goehner, who was seeking the first 800 series of his bowling career, opened play with a 300 game. He then rolled a 255 and was sitting just six pins shy of reaching the 800-mark after tossing strikes in the 10th and 11th frames of his third game.
On his final throw, Goehner toppled six pins for a 245 in the final game, allowing him to reach the 800 series accomplishment and bettering his previous best, which was achieved on April 23, 2007, by one pin.
Goehner’s 300 game now gives him a perfect game in five different decades. His first 300 came in 1986 during the State Bowling Tournament in Aberdeen when he was in his 30s.
Goehner was inducted into the local and state bowling Hall of Fames in 1995 for superior performance.
