PAPILLION, Neb. — Helen Teply, 97, of Papillion, Nebraska, and formerly of Wolsey, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at her home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial was in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Huron.
Helen Irene Rahder was born October 12, 1922, to Margaret (Martin-Prohaska) and John Rahder on a farm in Whiteside Township near Wessington. She attended the Whiteside School until the family moved to Theresa Township in 1938. She attended Benson School and then worked on the farm until being employed by Smithy Cleaners, Huron Cleaners, and then Armours in Huron, SD.
Helen was married to Charles W Teply at the Huron Presbyterian Church on July 12, 1947. They made their home in Wolsey, where they raised their three children.
In 1967, Helen began a 22-year employment at Raven Industries in Huron, where she used her fondness and talent of sewing. She was an excellent cook, baker, seamstress and quilter until the loss of her vision. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had been a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America, Eastern Star, Wolsey Birthday Club, and Bible study group.
Helen and Charles resided in Wolsey, until 2009, when they relocated to Nebraska to be near family.
Grateful for having shared in her life are Helen’s children, Charleen (Larry) Anderson of Omaha, Neb., and William (Judie Wiltse) Teply, of Bismarck, N.D.; her grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Teply, of Woodbury, Tenn., Nathan (Janet) Teply of Madison, Ala., Kyle (Karen) Anderson, La Vista, Neb., Angela (Adam) Olson of Bismarck, N.D., Josie (Ben) Fiebelkorn of Sioux Falls, and Jacob (Sabrina) Teply of Huntsville, Ala.; step-grandson, Ryan (Michelle) Fettig of Bismarck, N.D.; great-grandchildren, Saul, Olivia, and Luke Teply, Gage and Scarlett Teply, Lexi and Maci Anderson, and Cora and Hallie Fiebelkorn; step-great-grandchildren, Nick, Evan, Grant and Julia Manhart, and Ethan and Alexa Fettig.
She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Rahder of Huron; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 71 years, Charles (2019); son, Jack (1997); daughter-in-law, Shirley (2006); siblings, DeWayne, Dave, Timmie, and Lee Rahder; and half-siblings, William, Glen, and Howard Prohaska, LeRoy and Clayton Rahder, Mary Nelson, Leah Cassou, and Arlyn Hubbard.
