HURON — The Huron Cheer team took its first team title for the season Tuesday afternoon, when it topped a 14-team field at the Huron Invitational, held at Huron Arena.
The Huron Dance team also had a good showing, as it finished fourth in the field.
Huron finished second in Hip Hop, and fifth in both Jazz and Pom to finish with an average of 247 points on the day. S.F. Washington won all three of the categories en route to an average of 282 points. Brandon Valley was second and Harrisburg finished third in the team points race.
The Cheer team amassed 223.5 points to edge Harrisburg by two points for the title. Huron topped the score cards of two judges and was placed fifth by the other judge. The Tigers received an 81 from one judge, the only score above 80 on the day.
Watertown was third with 216 points, Washington was fourth with 215 points and Brandon Valley was fifth at 212.
The Cheer and Dance team is off until Oct. 3, when it travels to the Brandon Valley Invitational.
